Brian Mahoney - Headmaster of EF International Academy, New York

BA & MA in Teaching; PhD in Educational Leadership
Dr. Mahoney has over 15 years of experience working in and leading private schools providing high quality programmes that promote global citizenship and life-long learning skills. Dr. Mahoney previously served as Head for a K-12 school in New York and is a recipient of Edward Ford Fellowship awarded by the National Association of Independent Schools.

David Davies - Headmaster of EF International Academy, Torbay

BSc (Hons), PGCE, Ad Dip Ed Mngt, NPQH
A science graduate with a wealth of experience in educational management, focusing on performance development. Mr. Davies has great deal of experience in ensuring that students attain the highest grades and that they develop the skills to succeed in university courses. Mr. Davis has worked as an examiner for major exam boards and has organised intensive A-level revision courses.

Ted Mcgrath - Headmistress of EF International Academy, Oxford

BEd (Hons)
Ms. McGrath has extensive experience in international education and leadership and is committed to developing quality academic programmes and raising standards in education. She undertook frequent responsibilities for the IB Organisation in the Asia Pacific region, while serving as Head of School for 7 years in Thailand. In 2002 she was awarded the European Council of International Schools Award for the promotion of international education.

Dr. Claudia Trew - Principal of EF International Academy, New York

BA & MA in English (Hons); PhD in English Literature
With over 25 years of educational experience, Dr. Trew brings a wealth of knowledge to her school. She has taught English for 22 years, almost half of which were spent teaching A1 English in the IB Diploma programme. She believes that EF International Academy and the programmes we offer share the same goal of providing high quality, rigorous academic programmes in settings that foster intercultural understanding.

Tia Gueye - Head of Mathematics Department, New York

BS, MS in Secondary Mathematics Education
A dynamic mathematics and science teacher, Ms. Gueye brings enthusiasm to her subjects. She has extensive experience teaching mathematics in New York City high schools as part of the NY City Teaching Fellows Program. In addition to this, Ms. Gueye has considerable experience teaching and tutoring SAT, GMAT and GRE mathematics.

Toby Blundell - Physics Teacher, Oxford

BSc, PGCE in Physics
Mr. Blundell received his BSc from the University of Oxford and has extensive experience in research as well as academics. Following his studies, he worked in the private sector before committing himself fully as an educator. He has taught in Oxford for several years and served as a director of studies prior to joining the EF International Academy faculty.

Andy Scott - Economics Teacher, Torbay

BSc, MBA
Mr. Scott worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers before pursuing a career in education. He has taught economics and business related subjects in a variety of schools for over 26 years, including 17 years spent in senior management positions. He is an international training consultant and examiner for Cambridge International Examinations as well as for AQA and OCR, two of Britain’s major examination boards.

Candice Beermann - Head of Science Department, New York

BS, MS in Secondary Science Education
Ms. Beermann has been in the field of education for 10 years and prides herself on her ability to inspire a love of science in her students. She has an extensive educational background in both biology and chemistry, which allows her to bring significant expertise and insight into the classroom. She has been nominated for numerous teaching awards and won the Science Teacher competition hosted by Alberta Ingenuity. She works for the IB organization as Chemistry Paper 2 examiner and has participated in several IB training conferences.
